ALPs Plateau State Chapter Commemorates International Day of the Girl Child, Advocates an End to Child Marriage

The Plateau State Chapter of the Association of Lady Pharmacists (ALPs) joined the global community in commemorating the International Day of the Girl Child, using the occasion to raise awareness about the rights, protection and empowerment of girls.

The celebration focused on the theme of ending child marriage and investing in girls’ rights, highlighting the importance of creating an environment where every girl can grow, access quality education, enjoy good health and fulfil her potential without discrimination or harmful practices.

The event brought participants together for an awareness and advocacy session, reinforcing the need for collective action from individuals, communities and institutions to protect girls from child marriage and other practices that threaten their future.

Through this initiative, ALPs Plateau State Chapter reaffirmed the importance of empowering girls with the knowledge, opportunities and support they need to make informed decisions about their lives and futures.

As healthcare professionals and advocates for community wellbeing, the Association of Lady Pharmacists recognises that investing in girls’ rights is also an investment in healthier families, stronger communities and a better society.

The commemoration served as a reminder that every girl deserves the opportunity to learn, thrive, make choices and build a future free from limitations.

End child marriage. Invest in girls’ rights. Empower every girl.
