ALPs Oyo State Chapter Celebrates International Day of the Girl Child, Promotes Girls’ Rights and Empowerment

The Oyo State Chapter of the Association of Lady Pharmacists (ALPs) joined the global community in commemorating the 2026 International Day of the Girl Child, reaffirming its commitment to protecting, empowering and investing in the future of young girls.

The celebration aligned with the theme, “Ending Child Marriage, Investing in Girls’ Rights,” drawing attention to the importance of safeguarding girls’ rights and creating opportunities for them to grow, learn and achieve their full potential.

As part of the commemoration, members of the Association came together to promote awareness about the challenges affecting the girl child, particularly child marriage, limited access to opportunities and other harmful practices that threaten their wellbeing and future.

The initiative also highlighted the importance of education, healthcare, mentorship and community support in building a society where every girl is respected, protected and empowered to make informed decisions about her future.

Through its continued advocacy and community engagement, ALPs Oyo State Chapter recognises that investing in girls is essential to building healthier families, stronger communities and a more inclusive society.

The celebration was another meaningful opportunity for the Association to demonstrate its commitment to social responsibility and the advancement of girls’ rights.
